Sonas is a member of the Turn Off The Red Light campaign to end prostitution and sex trafficking in Ireland. Trafficking women and girls for the purposes of sexual exploitation is a modern, global form of slavery.
Sonas has worked with women who have been trafficked and/ or exploited in prostitution. The majority of these women began their experiences as children, as teenagers. Having seen first-hand the physical and emotional on the women themselves, their relationships including with their children and ongoing legacy issues of such exploitation, we support the move by the Minister for Justice that she is looking to introduce the criminalisation of the purchase of sexual services into the Sexual Offences Bill.
