1. I have the right to be safe and protected
This means that no one can hurt me. I also need to feel safe, so there shouldn’t be people or things around me that scare me
2. I have the right to be treated with respect and equality
This means accepting me for who I am, a girl or a boy, and treating me fairly
3. I have the right to be heard and to say what I’m thinking and feeling
This means having a say and being listened to about things that are important to me
4. I have the right to say when something feels wrong
This means that I can talk to somebody when something doesn’t feel right
5. I have the right to be clean, to eat good food and to sleep well
This means that I need to be given the things that will help my body and mind stay well, like having healthy food, being able to go to a doctor when I need to or wearing clean clothes
6. I have the right to go to school
This means going to a school that meets my needs and helps me learn to the best of my abilities
7. I have the right to play and have fun
This means that I have do things that I enjoy like playing games, laughing and being silly
8. I have the right to celebrate my culture
This means that I have the right to think and believe what I want and also to practise my religion and language as long as I am not stopping other people from enjoying their rights
9. I have the right to make choices about things that affect me
This means I can express my views and have my opinions taken seriously
